Description
Mid-18th century, English, sterling silver, 13 piece tea flatware set. George II, hallmarked London, maker's mark (on sugar nips) for Thomas Jackson I, marks on spoons rubbed. A set of 12 teaspoons with handles embossed with the figure of Apollo and basket of flowers bowl backs, engraved crest of arm holding axe/hatchet verso, with similarly crested pair of sugar nips. Approx. 4.675" L (spoons), 5" L (nips), 7.42 ozt. total approx. weight. Provenance: From the Private Collection of Mrs. Patricia Schuckmann, Roswell, Georgia.
Condition
Rings on tongs misshapen; undersides of bowls rubbed with loss of crispness to raised elements; no visible repairs; fine surface scratches commensurate with age and use.
