Antique Durgin New Queens Sterling Silver Tasting Spoon
Item Details
Description
This is a sterling silver tasting spoon in the Durgin New Queens pattern that was introduced in 1900. The serving or tasting spoon is vintage/antique, so does show some signs of being used, but not abused. The exact name for the purpose of this spoon is unknown to me. This spoon is about the same size and shape of a bonbon spoon, but the bowl is not pierced. Further, the bowl does have two distinct feature bends that appear to be Durgin factory done. The bowl of this spoon is somewhat like a wine taster. There does also seem to be faint traces of gold wash remaining on the bowl. The spoon is NOT new but is in very good antique condition with some wear consistent with it age.

This serving spoon is hand engraved with a monogram that appears to be "DAJ". It has not been buffed, but has been hand polished. The serving spoon measures approximately 5" long. This tasting/serving spoon is marked "STERLING" and it has the Durgin "D" logo.
