Item Details
Description
Two eighteenth century Dutch silver miniature toys, the first modelled as a kettle of ovoid form to a footed base and having hinged handle and pull off cover with flower finial, with Amsterdam town mark and maker's mark HD for Hendrik Duller, date letter E, probably 1789, the second a footed shallow bowl also with Amsterdam town mark and a maker's mark, slightly rubbed but likely Pieter II van Somerwil (active 1764-1803). Together with a nineteenth century Dutch miniature plate, struck with single sword mark, and a miniature footed bowl, pair of smaller bowls and barrel, all unmarked. Maximum height of kettle inclusive of handle measuring 6.5 cm, gross weight 55.3 grams.
Condition
All the pieces appear in fairly good overall condition, displaying expected tarnishing and surface wear, marks and scratches. Seam line visible to kettle. Hinged handle appears in good working order. Flower finial to lid appears a little squashed. Shallow bowl displays heavier scratches, contact marks and surface nicks to the interior. Also slight knocks around rim. Other bowls and barrel in similar condition. Assay marks are mostly legible with some slight rubbing or distortion. Lid to kettle appears unmarked. The 18th century shallow bowl is possibly dated 1767 or 1792, date letter H.
