Britannia standard (950) silver, embossed and cast; pear wood
England, 1912
Crichton Brothers (reg. 1895-1954) - Silversmiths and dealer in London, founded by Lionel Alfred Crichton
Maker’s mark, Britannia standard mark, guarantee mark, and date letter on the underside; moreover stamped ‘Crichton BROS NEW YORK & LONDON’; hallmarked again on the inside of the lid
Height, including lid: 19 cm
Weight: circa 585 g
Very good condition
A historicizing teapot in the Queen Anne style

This teapot has a pear shaped form and stands on a circular foot. The plain body has a domed and hinged lid with a ball shaped knob. The eight-lobed swan necked spout features an end piece in form of a bird’s head, while the C handle is made from wood.

Condition:

The teapot is in a very good condition, showing minor signs of wear. The height, including the lid, is 19 cm, while the weight is circa 585 g.

Crichton Brothers (reg. 1895-1954)

Crichton Brothers was founded in 1890 by Lionel Alfred Crichton in Kensington, London. The silversmiths were specialized in antique silver and the reproduction of fine-quality silver. In addition to London, the Crichton Brothers had branches in New York and Chicago. (cko)
