Width at the Kissaki : 1.98 cm or 0.77 inches. Kasane: 0.85 cm or 0.33 inches. Era : late Kamakura period. Shape : The blade is regular size oosuriage mumei (cut shortened) Jitetsu : Koitame is well grained with jinie and has a beautiful texture. Hamon : Niedeki suguha and noter hamon thick nioikuchi and sunagashi and also nice Kinsuji work. Boshi is round shape hakikake style(brush up) and kinsuji. Special feature : Kouda school is said that from late kamakura to Nanbokucho era. After the Nanbokucho period, it is said Uda school. I think this sword looks old tan Nanbokucho period probably late Kamakura period. The jigane is especially wonderful, well grained and chikei work. Also thick nioikuchi suguha and noter hamon with kinsuji clearly nice work. At NBTHK shinsa, the blade was judged as Tokubetsu hozon Kouda school. But I think from the Hmon and ligane, the blade might be Taima school. The blade itself is marvelous and very attractive Jigane and hamon. We recommend this high ranking sword.
