Rembrandt Van Rijn ( 1606-1669) Dutch " The Artist Drawing From A Model" Reference: Bartsch : B.192 ; Hollstein : H.231. Circa 1939 Second state. Fine 18th century drypoint etching w strong contrasts/details. Etching on thin laid paper. PROVENANCE w/ labels verso : Odon Wagner Gallery, Toronto. Beautifully framed and preserved. Sothebys had a prior sale 21,250 GBP. This is such a unique, yet well known etching as there are two state yet both are incomplete, which makes this fascinating. Examples such as this impression can be found in private collections world wide and in prominent museums, including: The British Museum, Rijks Museum, Mikkel Museum, St Lous Art Museum. Framed: 24 1/2 x 22" Etching: 9 1/4 x 7 3/8"
